GIview – A new database launched today

GIview, a new database for searching all geographical indications (GI) protected at the European Union level, was launched today.
GIview provides a single entry point for data on EU-registered geographical indications (https://ec.europa.eu/info/food-farming-fisheries/food-safety-and-quality/certification/quality-labels/quality-schemes-explained_en) and is a useful tool for consumers, producers and intellectual property professionals. It also contains detailed information on non-EU geographical indications protected at EU level by bilateral and multilateral agreements and on EU geographical indications protected in non-EU countries. This means that the database shows data on protected geographic designations of producers from each of our WB6  economies.

The database, officially launched at the online conference “Strengthening Geographical Indications”, is continuously updated with official registered data of the European Commission (Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development), and developed and maintained by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The database can be accessed at the following link  https://www.tmdn.org/giview/
