European Commission Launches Call for Expression of Interest for Companies Willing to Invest in the Western Balkans

As part of its enhanced engagement with the Western Balkans, the European Commission has launched a Call for Expression of Interest aimed at private companies based in the EU, EEA, and Western Balkans that are considering investing in any of the Western Balkan economies or at the regional level.

The call is open to companies operating in areas aligned with the EU’s strategic objectives and policy priorities, such as green and digital transitions, sustainable infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive economic growth. The initiative seeks to foster a structured dialogue between the European Commission and the private sector, and to identify both concrete investment opportunities and existing barriersthat may be limiting investment flows into the region.

Through this initiative, the European Commission aims to collect feedback from companies to better understand their interest in the region and to explore potential instruments or actions that could support a stronger and more coordinated investment effort across the Western Balkans.

Application deadline: 21 May 2025, 00:00 CET

The Call for Expression of Interest is part of the broader EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which emphasizes regional economic integration, improved connectivity, and strengthened competitiveness of the private sector.
